Completing the work of over two years of an ad hoc committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the report TÉT – Lifelong Learning in Hungary has been released in a book of 255 pages (in Hungarian). The abbreviation stands for the Hungarian expression of ’lifelong learning’: Tanulás Életen áT. (20 November)
The third regional preparatory conference begins today in Nairobi. Out of the 53 African member states of UNESCO, 49 have submitted a national report. This is a higher rate of response than – at this moment – in the European and North-American region. (5 November)
In addition to the five regional preparatory conferences, the francophone countries have decided to organise a meeting of their own, too, in Lyon in February, preparation to the global CONFINTEA VI conference. (13 October)
The second regional preparatory conference concluded its work in Seoul. The goals and results of the meeting are disclosed in a press release. (8 October)
Adama Ouane, Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, has also extended invitations to non-governmental organisations, internationally active in the field of adult learning and education. (12 September)
The Director-General of UNESCO sent out the invitations to the 52 governments as well as to the UNESCO National Commissions in the European and North-American region in the first days of September. The Ministers in charge are required to determine and send to the organisers the composition of their national delegations. (20 August)
